HM sampoerna is one of the leading tobacco companies in indonesia. This company was established in 1913 by Liem Seeng Tee. Most their product was well-known kretek cigarate in indonesia such as Sampoerna Hijau, Sampoerna A mild, and Dji Sam Soe. When the early 1930’s, kretek cigarates quickly grew in popularity. So Liem Seeng Tee decide to changed his family name and the name of his company to Sampoerna. Beside that Liem Seeng Tee decide to move both his family and his factory to abandoned complex of building in Surabaya.

In 1978 PT HM Sampoerna has took over by Aga’s second son. During putera Sampoerna’s tanure. The company established as a public company with a modern corporate, structure, and embarked. On period of investment and expension. Since 18 may 2005 this company was acquired by Philip Morris International. This company based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is one of the largest tobacco companies in the world. After that Sampoerna became one of largest tobacco campanies in the world. Today HM Sampoerna distributes Malboro, the best selling cigarate brand in the world. HM Sampoerna’s porpuse is offer the best smoking experience to adult smokers in indonesian.

PT HM Sampoerna operates manufacturing plants in Surabaya, Malang and Pandaan. To keep up with increasing demand, this company utilize Third Party Operations (TPO). TPO are independent operators that produce HM Sampoerna’s leading hand-rolled kretek cigarette brands such as Dji Sam Soe, Dji Sam Soe Super Premium, Sampoerna Hijau, and Panamas Kuning. To ensure the TPOs generate the most beneficial economic impact on their local communities, HM Sampoerna have involved from the beginning local residents that are most deeply rooted in their communities, such as local small businesses, and building. To ensure that their product are manufactured to the highest quality standards, Sampoerna provide these designated TPOs with assitance in recruiting and traning employees as well quality control and general management.

Success is hard to measure, especially for a company like them. Take one look at our financial results and there is no doubting their achievements. But HM Sampoerna believe they should also measure theirselves. That is why community initiatives and responsible marketing are priorities for this company. And we do not mean to stop there. In 2006, the Sampoerna Entrepreneurship Training Center (SETC) opened its doors on 10 hectares of Company land in the vicinity of their SKM facility in Gunting Village in the Pasuruan Region.The SETC is an integrated facility, which includes classrooms, technical repair shops and experimental farming and agricultural areas. It represents a unique experiment to provide their pre-retirement employees and villagers in the region of their SKM facility with practical training and job skills, which the employees can then use to start new businesses or improve their existing business. To further support graduates in getting started, this Company has also instituted a micro-business revolving-fund program administered in tandem with Brawijaya University in Malang. In order to make the SETC a success, they have involved from the beginning competent and credible partners, including the Bogor Agricultural Institute, both in planning and in organizing the facility, and providing instruction.
